| Focus on satisfaction |

It has been a full month of Nextep and we already concluded the first module: Leadership Situational II.
What we’ve learned about the young generation of managers, is that they fully understand the importance of workplace satisfaction in increasing the direct reports’ performance. Working on a questionnaire for measuring the natural leadership behaviors (LBA) we found out that their natural styles are strongly directed towards increasing and supporting the satisfaction of the persons they directly interact with. As a result of that, we mainly focused on how can we mix the supportive leadership style with a directive one and which are the moments when directive leadership “interventions” are crucial for reaching the desired results.
We’ve debated the reasons why a leader in our times should rather be “a jazz band leader” rather than “a symphonic orchestra conductor“. What are the reasons for which, due to an accelerated rate of change in our times, the jazz band leader’s flexibility is vital as opposed to the “conventionalism” of a symphonic conductor and what are several other parallels that we can draw while learning how to be efficient leaders!
After a lot of work, exercises and role plays, at the end of the two days each participant prioritized what they found useful to put into practice! From consciously adapting their leadership style to delegating more frequently. From deciding to have more structured one to one meetings with their managers and direct reports to discovering the appropriate sources for development even elsewhere than the direct manager!
On the 18th of March, we meet again, informally, for a “Leadership Evening”! We’ll keep you close with more news, impressions and actions with an impact!
